Healthy Lifestyles

“Tiffany has helped me tremendously in my fitness journey. I have lost 44 pounds and still have a little ways to go. I thank her for challenging me and opening me up to new and innovative fitness concepts. Tiffany’s positive and energetic presence benefit all who participate during her instruction. There is a reason her classes are consistently full with no open slots. Tiffany is awesome!”

Quite often, I am asked the question, “What do you do for a living?”

I’m sure many of you get the same question, the perfect ice breaker. The reaction I get when I tell them I am a formally trained chef, spokesperson and certified fitness instructor, is one of surprise. Many say, “Chef, food and fitness usually do not go together.” Although not the norm in my profession, I truly have a passion for both areas, without any conflicting feelings. Food and fitness can go hand in hand.

Why fitness? I have been a certified instructor for over 18 years, teaching everything from Yoga, Indoor Cycling, Pilates, Interval training and Weight training, to name a few. Physical activity is proven to help mind, body and spirit. In fact, research from a variety of studies has shown that exercise can positively affect mood, self-esteem, have antidepressant effects, reduce anxiety and improve sleep. These are all effects generated from the brain. Physically, it has been well known that exercise increases muscle tone, reduces heart disease, risk of stroke, cancer and bad cholesterol.

The corporate world has picked up on the benefit of its employees living a healthy lifestyle. These statistics speak volumes.

*Pepsi Co. found a 300% ROI after implementing a fitness program.
*DuPont had a return of $2.05 for every $1 invested in a fitness program, over a six year period.
*Prudential, after a 5-year study, found a $1.91 ROI invested in a fitness program.
*Coors Brewing Company started a wellness program and had a $5.50 ROI for every employee participating.

I can show individuals the benefit of implementing fitness and healthy living through cooking shows followed by condensed fitness programs. My experience includes this show combination, sponsored by Cooking Light Magazine, at The Biltmore, in North Carolina, Lake Austin Spa Resort and Copper Mountain Resort .

I strongly believe a healthy lifestyle is key with a diet and meal plan that consists of lean protein, fresh fruits and vegetables and nutrient dense ingredients. I also believe in splurging on occasion because little rewards now and then prevent the eventual cave later. Incorporate healthy cooking methods in your meal preparation like grilling and steaming. Also use cookware that is nonstick to save fat and calories. Plan meals in advance by going to the grocery store with a list and preparing meals for the entire week including breakfast, lunch and dinner. This will also save money as well as time during the week, offering you healthy, flavorful meals.

I adore my career teaching fitness classes and have successfully taught group exercise classes for over 25 years. I love making a difference in class members’ lives by helping them accomplish their fitness goals. I have enjoyed classes that are filled with beginner students to the advanced, offering each person a workout that is comfortable for them, yet, a challenge. I began teaching a number of years ago when the “no pain, no gain” slogan was popular. Now after years of teaching, I believe in a well- rounded fitness plan with a balance of cardio, strength training, core conditioning and flexibility. I cannot express my appreciation enough to all of the people who have made me a better instructor, which is everyone that has ever taken my classes. I have made so many lifelong friendships in this wonderful industry and look forward to many, many more.
